LIVING FOODS

By far the best food to eat is still alive. I don't mean swallowing goldfish, but eating foods that are still full of energy will be far healthier than some old wilted lettuce or a dead animal that's been shipped far from the source. By the time food finally get onto your plate, it has lost most of its original life force energy.

The fresher your food, the better it is for you because nutrients quickly diminish with time. Forget the MEGA bags of vegetables and fruits, unless they are going to get eaten quickly. What doesn't get consumed in a few days gets wilty in the refrigerator and is not fresh. Purchase what you can consume in a few days and then you will have far more living energy. Buying right from your farmer at a farmers market insures that your food is straight from the farm, seasonal and locally grown.

When you purchase out of season fruits and vegetables from distant regions you are increasing the consumption of petroleum products in our environment more than is necessary. Eating foods out of season is counter-intuitive and unhealthy. Watery fruits, like melons, are cooling to our system and best eaten in summer. Winter greens and squashes are best in the winter. We have gotten way out of whack with our eating habits just because we can, and this is not healthy.

Growing your own garden, or participating in neighborhood gardens, can put you back in touch with nature. Some local gardens/farms will even provide delivery programs. You may think this is still using petroleum, but it takes a lot less gas to drive 20 or 50 miles then 2,000 for your nourishment. When you go exotic you add to the pollution problem unnecessarily. Be conscious and be holistic. Food takes energy to grow and transport and we all need to be more green.

The Raw Food Hero!

A huge portion of raw food diets contain sprouts. You know the little plants you sometimes get on top of salads. Well, just about any seed, grain or bean can be sprouted in just a few days and Wallah! you have a living food.

One of my favorite recipes is sprouted hummus. Instead of cooking the chick peas, I sprout them (which takes three or four days) and then add lemon, olive oil, garlic and cayenne. Put it in a blender and grind it to a nice smooth texture. Serve with flat bread, vegetables, or chips. What a treat!

Remember, you are what you eat. The energy of what you eat is what builds and replenishes your body. Go for fresh, organic, and sprouts from a variety of grains, seeds and beans as often as you can.

CONNECTING PAIN AND SOURCE

The Healing Journey Continues

Mother moon wakes me. 2 AM! She shines through my bedroom window onto my face and I feel intense pain in my jaw and shoulder and an aching heart and cannot sleep. I get up. Make coffee with change ease honey tincture, thinking okay this is just PMS. But earlier in the day I received some information about a recent relationship that ended and this put me back into a negative state of thinking. I sought out facts and in doing this I heard rumors and I let this stuff sink into me again. I let the information open the old wounds I worked so hard to heal.

The pain in my jaw and shoulder is lessened by drinking six glasses of water and then doing deep meditation, which for me often includes prayer. Each of us can find our connection to the deeper self. Being able to give our problems to a higher power and asking for help is vital to holistic healing.

From a body perspective, the pain I have may be associated with the gall bladder. The gall bladder is the partner of the liver and the two work in unison to insure that toxins and waste are removed. From an emotional perspective, the gall bladder is considered the guardian of the heart and the liver is the seat of anger and forgiveness. This makes a lot of sense to me since I have taken too much to heart over the past year and have been unable to access my anger; instead taking on all the blame. I have been walking around with a heavy heart.

There are many ways to work with imbalance of Liver/Gall Bladder Chi, one of which is acknowledging your feelings and allowing for change to occur. Holding onto negative patterns, especially around heart matters, has an immensely negative affect on the physical body. Forgiveness is truly healing and necessary on so many levels. Another is doing a gall bladder cleanse using lemons and olive oil and then adhering to a healthy diet that does not tax the body with waste.

Lemons are one of the most alkalizing foods we can eat. I try to add a lemon to my diet everyday. I squeeze lemon juice on everything, including water. Lemons are excellent for both liver and gall bladder issues. The color yellow is symbolic of the third Chakra, an energy center at the solar plexus where development of the ego sits. A healthy ego is important to ourselves and those we love. Having a weak or overdeveloped ego can create huge imbalances in relationships, making very negative partners as one continually tries to dominate the other.

We can take on a lot of what is not ours and find ourselves in power struggles, but we can move on and access healing. Let go, allow change, be in the flow where you are your true self. Each of us has our path all leading to Spirit.

Letting go of old patterns takes time, especially when we take on stuff that does not belong to us. I separate what is mine and what is not mine during meditation. I visualize it as darkness and send it back to the source. I cut cords at my chakras to others and maintain an open compassionate heart.

Healing comes when we address the many levels of who we are and then act form there. There is no separation between the Mind and the Body, and inside we are all pure Spirit. We are all connected by this spiritual force. Make this connection and you are well on your way to being whole again.

TIPS ON EATING OUT

SOME BUMPS IN THE ROAD TO EATING HEALTHY

One of the big problems we face when wanting to eat right is going out to a restaurant and eating right. Habits are hard to break, especially when you are used to ones that are tasty.

Here are a few tips to maintaining a healthy diet when eating out:

Think of your evening out as an adventure where you are going to try something new and improved for the new and improved you.

Decide ahead of time that you are not going to eat anything fried or with sugar or additives.

Avoid
drinking ice water or other liquids during your meal, which slows digestion, by drinking plenty of water before leaving.

Don't be shy to ask your waitperson about ingredients.

Definitely stay away from MSG (you should support the petition written by John Erb, the author of The Slow Poisoning of America at www.regultaions.gov who wants this stuff out of our foods and rightly so as it is connected with Obesity, ADHD, Autism and many more chronic dis-eases) or Aspartame which was known by the FDA to cause brain cancer in mice, but got passed thanks to promotions and hiring, and a change of political leaders...ahhh the power of money! This is all information you can hear about watching the videos from www.TheHealignPraxis.com

Chew your food slowly. A great secrete to eating less at restaurants, and an important aspect of healthy eating anytime, is chewing every bite slowly. A lot of digestion happens in your mouth first...so chew, chew, chew and chew some more before swallowing. The food should be a paste before it goes down.

Put the fork down on the plate after every bite so we wouldn't shovel the food in our mouths. Next time watch how most people eat...unbelievable!

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE CONTINUES

I went out last night to a Thia restaurant with my daughter, who has a fatty liver at age 23...a fast growing problem in America....and we ordered steam-style dishes instead of friend and did not have the appetizer nor the famous but very sugary Thia ice tea. We also substituted the white rice for brown rice, ate slowly and consciously. I said a little prayer before consuming.

The meal was great and we felt full sharing two dishes between us. We even had left-overs. WOW! I know we are both doing great and will continue to do so.

I did wake up last night with mild asthma, which I was able to control using acupressure points. I and am still balancing water intake as I felt dehydrated this morning. I do notice that my love for coffee is gone. I don't like how it tastes anymore. The pain in my jaw and shoulder is 85% gone, but my lower back hurts which is partially due to 3 hours of uber-cleaning my daughters apartment and slight constipation from radical change of diet.

Things are moving slowly as my body adjusts. My body is telling me that I've been dehydrated for a long time and much of the water I'm consuming needs to be rationed for repair...I guess elimination is somewhere down the list for my body at this time. The WATER CURE claims that most healthy people need 8 to 10 glasses of water daily just to maintain bodily function, certainly more if you are sick.

More later...please add any comments. I want to hear from you!

Continuing My Healing Praxis Journey

Hello Blog Followers. I am still on the Journey with the Healing Praxis.

Yesterday was better food wise but I'm certain I'm not getting enough water as I woke up feeling dehydrated. I am getting more in touch with my body needs and my jaw related pain is improving. I am still experiencing asthma symptoms, especially upon waking and during my walks (see earlier post on Silent Hiking).

My diet transition to WHOLE FOODS is incomplete still. It is suggested that red pepper be added and black pepper be dropped from your diet so I am doing that. I had an almost orgasmic experience yesterday when I added chipolte peppers from my local Mexican Market to my avocado, tomato, on multi-grain sour dough bread. The ones I ate were canned, salted and in a sauce, but after the experience of eating them, I am determined to locate some organic whole chipoltle peppers. YUMMY!! I am concerned that I am eating too much fat so will be adding more greens to balance that out. Yesterdays diet lso included Kettle Corn Chips with hummus, an artichoke with butter, brusslesprouts, goat feta cheese, and fruit during the day. I'm trying to cut out animal flesh but not going vegan or raw. I did drink a nice microbrewed beer last night while playing my guitar and had coffee this morning (the coffee seems to have a triple effect on me now). I am searching for a good organic green tea and will try to add any links if I find them.

Finally I am feeling some movement in my intestines which have been out of wack.

I will try to add more later.

Healing Praxis Journey

THE BODY NEEDS WATER....LOTS OF WATER!!!
Suggestions on water intake are 1/2 of the oz of your body weight in pounds with a high quality pure, unrefined salt aprox. 1/2 teaspoon for every 2 quarts. Or, you should drink three glasses of water upon rising, stop water intake 30 minutes to one hour before meals, and wait 2 and 1/2 hours before drinking water after meals. Also you may not want to drink too much water upon retiring or you will wake up to pee all night.

Water wait time can be adjusted depending on the foods you eat. Example: fruit requires less time to digest, aprox 30 minutes, carbs about 3 hours and proteins about 8 hours, so you don't have to wait as long after eating fruit, but much longer after protein....get the picture. Listen to your body!!!

THE BODY NEEDS WHOLE FOODS!!!
Recommendations are for WHOLE FOODS only.... that means nothing refined or synthetic. No sugar! No white flour or white rice. Adhere to an Alkaline diet as much as possible with as much variety as you can find. Foods rich in fiber tend to be more alkalizing while proteins tend to be more acidifying. Do not combine fruits with other foods, eat them alone in the morning, up until 12am. Then you can eat proteins, fats, vegetables, and complex carbohydrates. You can combine complex carbs with veggies, but try to eat the protein without the carbs. (I know this is much different than the usual meal plan but easier for digestion) Fruit or nuts are great for in between snacks or desert but should not be combined. Cook in Butter or Coconut oil, otherwise don't heat oils. Eat as raw as possible and consider digestion time; proteins take longer than fruit. The earlier you stop consuming the better for digestion during sleep. Get plenty of water before, in between and after, but not with meals.

AVOID NEGATIVE SELF-TALK!!!
Believe in the power of the Mind...most people have programed themselves to think negatively. Negative thinking creates and supports negative experience. Think of it in quantum terms of reality...I think, therefore I am...Change your belief through your language. For instance...if you think or say...I am addicted to caffeine, you are condemning yourself to have this addiction and it is not really true. Instead start telling yourself that you used to be addicted and now you can control your intake or not drink it at all. We all need a lot of help in this department since we receive many negative messages through parents, culture, media, etc. Don't give up.

MY JOURNEY BEGINS....

WATER CURE: I am going slowly with this not wanting to burst my thirsty cells...but do notice my bone related pain in my jaw, neck and shoulder girdle on my left side diminished slightly. If I drink coffee, it returns. For each cup of coffee, add two additional cups of water.

WHOLE FOOD: I bought lots of wonderful things yesterday and ate far too much and felt really full. I ate a banana and then later an apple for breakfast, then between 12am and 8pm I ate a boiled egg, hummus with organic corn chips, some raw almonds, an avocado on multi-grain sour dough bread, and an artichoke with butter. I also had a hot toddy later with brandy and an herbal honey I made for change ease.

POSITIVE SELF-TALK: I've been working on this for a while, getting over a disappointing relationship. This morning I told myself that I am fabulous and am forgiving myself for any misunderstandings. I am no longer going over details, but instead accepting this loss as a positive move toward greater self-development and a healthier mate. In the past, I was attracted to unhealthy people needing to be healed, but now I attract enlightened people on the path of healing and wholeness.

OTHER: This morning I had asthma shortly after waking, but am feeling less shoulder related pain after two days on the WATER CURE and reducing my coffee intake. I sense that I have some serious blockage and so am considering a salt water flush when I can take some time off. Nothing astounding to report otherwise, but stay tuned. I will try to add links for you soon so you can read more in depth information.

HEALER HEAL THYSELF

No healer worth their salt is going to be purposely unhealthy. What I mean by that, is that they make unhealthy choices leading to poor health.

I remember going to the Hospital to get tested for mold after black mold was discovered in my son's room, and to be "educated" on the use of medication for my dis-ease of Asthma. Although the young interns looked healthy enough in their fancy heals, the physician I finally saw looked terribly stressed with a gray pallor and quite over weight. In fact, I noticed that most of the nursing staff were also over weight - not just pleasantly plum, but bordering on obesity. In fact the hospital looked more like a place to get sick than to access healing. I was appalled by the filthy state of the bathrooms and the greasy, non-nutritious foods being served in the cafeteria. Upon leaving I noticed many staff members standing outside, stressed, overweight and smoking cigarettes during their brief breaks.

The stress on health care workers can be understood, but I am perplexed by the medical systems hiring of extremely unhealthy people to administer health. Shouldn't the people that work in the Health Industry, taking care of the sick, have radiant health? Why are these people as sick as the people they are trying to heal?

I want to provide health information that is healing and in order to do this I want to possess and reflect radiant health. Who is going to come to me if I'm not taking my own advice and not being successful?

I am not alone in this search. Aside form my amazing education at John F Kennedy University in Holistic Health Education, I am guided by prayer and Healing Angels, like Archangel Raphael, to provide you with the best information on health. My mission is to help people understand their true healing potential so that dis-ease will end.

I admit, that I have dis-ease and am continually searching for cures. I know that I must participate in my healing and my Angels have guided me to explore The Healing Praxis that promise to heal anything and provide radiant health. You can download these very long videos at www.TheHealingPraxis.com

Please stay tuned as I journal my progress for your benefit and mine.

If you have your own experience with this method, I'd love to hear from you.

SILENT HIKING

Where do I begin. Healing myself is a life long journey. I have had the pleasure of community and this has been a blessing in my healing, but sometimes being by myself walking in nature is far more healing. I walk away from the noise of society and technology, into the wild where nature speaks. The gentle sounds of nature can provide healing, but I must be Silent. Once I quiet my mind, I can begin to hear the music of the Universe. The sound that vibrates through the waves along the shore, the calls of birds, the rushing of the water in a creek, the buzzing of insects heal me from noise pollution. Silent Hiking is truly the practice of Holistic Healing as it addresses the entire being - Mind, Body and Spirit. Love and Charity!

Holism in the New Age

Everywhere you turn for alternative health, whether products or practitioners, the word Holistic comes up.

Holistic Treatments, Holistic Diets, Holistic products, Holistic Practitioners all seemingly promise better, more inclusive treatments by simply using this illusive power word. But what does Holistic really mean and are these Holistic things really Holistic?

As a Holistic Health Educator, I have explored the Holistic approach to addressing health and understand it to be about relationships. In order to be Holistic, the practitioner, treatment or product, at the very least, needs to address the relationship we have with ourselves on a Mind, Body, Spirit level.

What is the Mind, Body, Spirit relationship? There isn't an easy answer here since Holism is a proverbial can of worms and can include anything and everything that affects you from what you consume and what you think about what you consume, to what others are consuming and how that affects the environment that we all share. Even the way you feel about the treatment, product, drug, practitioner, etc. can deeply affect your progress in healing.

Obviously, the Mind, Body, Spirit approach should go beyond treating physical symptoms of illness and respect our beliefs and feelings. If you are getting sick because you are feeling stressed out, just taking an oral medication is not going to address the cause of your illness. To address the stress directly, you may need to start a practice in Meditation, but a change of environment may also be necessary to really heal. Including the Spirit in the Holistic approach is usually very personal and has a lot to do with your personal beliefs around health and your life in general.

Anytime you participate in your healing process you are entering into a Holistic Healing relationship. You cannot separate yourself from the healing process. In fact, the more you participate in your health, the more Holistic you are being. Our participation is key to obtaining good health and a key component of Holistic Health.

Ask yourself as a participant in your own health if you are receiving healing that addresses your illness from a Holistic - Mind, Body, Spirit approach. Often you will see that without your participation you aren't truly getting a Holistic Treatment.

Well, that is all for now.

Blessings,

Charity
